CPD Programme
For the 2012 AGM, the IMO is hosting a number of CPD events, with three Scientific Sessions and three Case Study and Skills Training events. These sessions have been developed around a range of topics that are relevant across the medical disciplines and will ensure a varied CPD programme for IMO members.

Thursday 12th - 7.00pm – 8.30pm | Rheumatology Skills Training, Dr Trevor Duffy |
Doctors will acquire basic rheumatology knowledge and skills relevant across specialties. This session will demonstrate foundation clinical skills in this specialty, and will focus on a clinical presentation and discussion of likely causative agents. |

Friday 13th - 8.00am – 9.00am | Outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium DT8, Dr Paul McKeown |
This CPD session will explore the possible causes for the 2009 outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium DT8, and will outline the control and preventive measures put in place by the investigation team. Doctors will learn about the multidisciplinary and multiagency response to this situation and gain a better understanding of the reaction to such an outbreak, and will recognize their own role to play in such an occurrence. |

This session will present a series of interactive cases with doctors exploring evidence-based clinical decision making in patients with common vascular conditions including uncomplicated varicose veins; superficial thrombophlebitis; venous leg ulcers; carotid bruits and asymptomatic carotid stenosis and intermittent claudication. |
