Inappropriate Actions from Line Mangers re Rotas
Important Message Re Rota Planning for 14th October
We have been contacted by many NCHDs across the health service who have expressed concern that line managers are seeking confirmation as to whether or not they are IMO members and/or participating in industrial action.
The IMO has raised this matter with the HSE and the HSE have confirmed that this is inappropriate and have now communicated to all regions as follows:
Please be advised that in relation to proposed industrial action/work stoppage on the 14th October, engagement by line managers with staff seeking to determine whether or not the employee is a member of a union or association who have confirmed their intention to engage in work stoppage on the day is neither appropriate or acceptable and should not occur. We have been advised of significant concerns by the IMO in particular, in regard to NCHDs and would instruct that this should cease with immediate effect. This is also applicable to all other grades of staff. In relation to NCHDs, they should be rostered as per a Sunday/Public Holiday Rotas for the duration of the Work Stoppage. During the period of the Work Stoppage those NCHDs on the rota will attend on site.
Please note, NCHDs are not obliged to create the rotas.
