HIQA Consultation on eHealth Interoperability Standards - Jan 2012
The IMO made a short submission to the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) on eHealth Interoperability Standards recommending that the eHealth Standards Advisory Commitee prioritise the adoption of a messaging standard to be applied to appropriate information systems. It is likely that a meaningful standard for messaging will also require some regularising of the minimum dataset to be used within these systems.
The IMO also urged that Guiding Principles for the development of interoperability standards must include reference to Patient Safety and Patient Confidentiality.
