BAI Consultation on Draft Children’s Commercial Communication Code – May 2012
In April 2012 the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) published a draft code for further consultation which proposes to ban the advertising of HFSS foods during Children’s programming (the IMO called for a ban till 9pm) and a cap of 25% of sold advertising across the day.
The IMO believe the draft proposals are insufficient to protect children from exposure to advertising of unhealthy foods the IMO and maintain the need for a ban on all advertising of HFSS food and drink on TV and Radio between 6am and 9pm.
