GP MEETING MOTIONS
- This meeting commends the work of the IMO negotiating team in reaching agreement with the State on a new deal for General Practice. While it is a matter for each individual GP to decide whether to sign up to the agreement the opinion of this meeting is that the IMO GP Deal represents a progressive measure which will help return General Practice to viability.

- This meeting commends the recent IMO GP Deal and now calls for further investment and a new contract to underpin General Practice and address the issues not included in the recent IMO GP deal including Women’s Health Programmes, Out of Hours Services and a Services to patients in Nursing Homes.

- This meeting calls on the Department and the HSE to negotiate with the IMO a “Redundancy Fund” which will allow a GP Practice pay redundancy to staff when a GP practice has to close or downsize

- In respect of the HSE part funded Out of Hours GP Co-Operatives, the IMO calls on the HSE and Department of Health to ensure that:
- Bright eye cover is provided by Vocationally Trained GPs
- Bright Eye Out of Hours GP Cover should be paid at an hourly rate that reflects the onerous training and qualifications of Vocationally Trained GPs
- OOH Co-Operatives that employ doctors to provide out of hours cover should pay the Medical Protection Malpractice Insurance for the employee

- This meeting calls for the assignment of GMS patients to doctors cease until such a time as the IMO and HSE/Department of Health agree a new care pathway as provided for in the IMO GP Deal.

- This meeting calls on the HSE to introduce a Doctor Grant for GMS practitioners similar to the grants available for nursing and administrative support.

- This meeting calls for the Heartwatch Chronic Care Programme to be supported and rolled out nationally and not be allowed to slowly wind down pending the roll out of a full Chronic Disease Programme.
