The IMO again calls on the Department of Health and the HSE to implement a contract with consultant status for all practising Specialists in Public Health Medicine given the important role of Public Health Medicine in protecting and improving the health of the population of Ireland, and given the serious mismatch between the duties of Specialists in Public Health Medicine and the current contract.

3. The IMO calls on the HSE to act promptly to full vacant Principal Medical Officer positions as these posts are critical for the organisation and management of an integrated and efficient Community Medical Service in each CHO.
