Update April 2014

Arising from the 2012 Labour Court decisions and Labour Relations Commission proposals, the IMO and the HSE entered into a detailed and protracted process of negotiations aimed at devising agreed policies on Consultant Continuing Medical Education and Rest Day entitlements.

Those negotiations have now reached a conclusion, and the IMO is organising a ballot of each Consultant members on the proposed changes.

Members will be asked separately to accept or reject the proposals, which can be viewed by clicking on the relevant filebelow :

As with every process of negotiation, these proposals do not contain every item that was sought by the IMO. However, many of the amendments suggested, and pursued, by the IMO and by the IMO Consultant Committee have been incorporated into the final documents.

The Consultant Committee of the IMO is recommending that the proposals on Consultant CME and Rest Day Entitlements be accepted.
