The IMO are engaging with the HSE in relation to the ongoing review of the Clinical Director role. While the review is welcome and overdue it is important that any recommendations from the report affecting the role are discussed and agreed with the IMO.

 

The Clinical Director role is a contractual arrangement and changes in job description and role must be negotiated with the IMO as the relevant union so that the recommendations are given the necessary underpinning and agreement to be translated into actual changes in job description and role as required. The IMO are in agreement that the role requires review and modernisation in light of the significant changes that have occurred since it was first agreed in 2008.

 

The IMO fully expect further engagement with the HSE following the publication of the report and look forward to same. We will continue to update members as matters develop.
