Public Service Pay and Pensions Act (2017) – Pay Restoration

As you may have seen, it has been confirmed that Section 19 of the Public Service Pay and Pensions Act (2017) will come into effect today. In summary, this means that public service salaries up to a maximum of €150,000 that have not already been restored to pre-FEMPI levels through the Public Service Stability Agreement (2018-2020) – during the negotiations for which the IMO represented the medical profession – will now be restored.

This impacts individuals on a salary of between €70,000 and €150,000, which will include some pay points on some Consultant salary scales. Those remaining salaries, i.e., over €150,000 with the exclusion of certain office holders, will be restored under Section 20 of the Act with a restoration date of 1st July 2022.

When official notification has been received, we will forward members confirmation of the various changes to the Consultant pay scales.

Additionally, from today those in receipt of overtime / premium payments, should note that these payments will revert to ‘Time + ½’ , effective today, under the terms of the Building Momentum national pay agreement. Again, when we have the circular on these we will share with members.
