We have continued to engage extensively with consultants and trainees on queries in relation to the proposed consultant contact.

 

We are seeking clarification on a number of areas and have advised the Department of Health that, pending receipt of clarification, our process with members will conclude in the week commencing 30^th January 2023 following which we will advise the Department as to the outcome of the process. In the coming weeks we will be providing further detailed information in respect of issues raised by members and will continue to offer an individual service for those who wish to discuss the impact of switching contract – we will then conclude the process with a ballot of members (Consultants and NCHDs) as to their views on the proposed terms.

 

Given the commitment of the IMO and its members to the negotiations and allowing time for clarifications we expect that the Department of Health will respect that the process has not concluded and will not offer out the proposed new contract in advance of our response.
