We write to remind members of the limitations of the POCC contract with regard to rostering. The POCC 23 is a 5/6 contract. This means that you can be rostered on any 5 days out of 6 with those 6 days being Monday to Saturday. During Monday to Friday, you may be rostered for core hours between 8am and 10pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm. Your core hours are 37 hours per week.

 

Consultants cannot be rostered for core hours on a Sunday without their agreement. You may be requested to work a Sunday but this brings a premium payment of double time for such hours. This is where such hours are normal rostered hours or overtime hours and not on call hours. On call hours may be worked on a Sunday and these will attract B or C factor payments. 

 

In addition the consultant rostering principles document (see here ) recognises that: The roster will reflect that consultants will spend 20-25% of their time in non-clinical duties.
