Annual General Meeting

Policy-making body of the Organisation. Open to all members.

Council

Made up of representatives from each specialty group, the Council meets four times a year and its primary role is to develop and implement IMO policy as determined by the AGM.

Management

Made up of the President, Vice President, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary, Chairpersons of Specialty Committees, the immediate Past President and Chief Executive. The primary function of the Management Committee is to receive reports and monitor performance on operational matters and supervise the implementation of policy.

Specialty Committees

Consultants, General Practitioners, NCHDs and Public Health Doctors.
The committees meet eight times per year and decide on action to be taken in relation to issues affecting the relevant group. If issues arise which affect other specialty groups those issues are referred to Management Committee for a decision. Each specialty committee contains 20 regional and specialty representatives.

Regional / Branch / Hospital Structure

Each specialty group is divided into regional divisions which correspond to HSE Regions except where the National Committees determines otherwise. Each regional division is, where applicable, divided into branches. The precise arrangement is determined by the members of the specialty group in consultation with their national committee.
