Chief Executive

Mr. George McNeice was appointed Chief Executive of the Irish Medical Organisation in 1993. A graduate of University College Dublin, Mr. McNeice joined the IMO from the Department of Health in 1984 as Senior Industrial Relations Officer.

Since his appointment Mr. McNeice has overseen the restructuring of the Organisation which continues to be the only body representing all doctors in Ireland

Janice Haugh began working for the IMO in June 2000 as a receptionist. She took a year out to go traveling and returned to take up position as P.A. to the CEO. Apart from her daily P.A. duties she looks after the organisation of many of our events, including the AGM. Janice’s hobbies include keeping fit, cooking and traveling.

Director, Finance and Administration

Susan Clyne joined the IMO in 1994 and is a member of the IMO Management Team with responsibility for personnel, day to day financial and office management of the IMO and the Irish Medical Journal.

She has a keen interest in politics and current affairs.

Finance Officer

Mairead joined the IMO in January 2010.  She holds a BSc in Finance from Queens University Belfast and has completed her ACCA examinations.  She enjoys sport and music.

Steve joined the IMO in December 2011. He has over 20 years experience as a union official working across both the public and private sectors in ROI, NI and GB. In NI he was involved with the group of Health Sector unions during a major reform of the Health and Social Care system, new hospital PPP programmes and the formation of the RQIA (similar to HIQA). A graduate of Keele University, Steve has an MA in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management.

Assistant Director, Industrial Relations

Shirley joined the IMO in July 2008 from the Irish Dental Association where she was responsible for industrial relations for both general practitioners and public dental surgeons. Prior to this Shirley held public policy and human resource roles and worked as a Stagiaire in the European Parliament while studying in Brussels. Shirley holds a BA International in Politics and French from University College Dublin, an MA in Globalisation from Dublin City University and an IBEC/DIT Diploma in Industrial Relations.

Assistant Director, Industrial Relations

Eric Young joined the Irish Medical Organisation in 2009 and is responsible for national industrial relations negotiations and activities on behalf of Consultants and General Practitioners. Eric has over twenty years experience in management and industrial relations having worked in both the public and private sector.He worked in various Human Resource positions in leading financial services companies and in the education sector. As well as industrial relations experience he has significant experience in the full range of Human Resource disciplines including recruitment, training and change management. Eric has a Masters degree in Industrial Relations and an MBA and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.

Industrial Relations Officer

Anthony has studied at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. He recently completed a doctoral degree in History with UCD.
Before coming to work in the IMO, Anthony had worked in both the public sector and in financial services.
Among his varied hobbies are reading, movies, television and sports.

Industrial Relations Officer, Personal Cases Unit

Val Moran joined the Irish Medical Organisation in 2010 and is an Industrial Relations Officer with the Personal Cases Unit.

Val graduated with a degree in Finance from University College Cork in 2004 and subsequently qualified as a solicitor. Prior to joining the IMO he worked in general practice in Cork dealing primarily with employment issues and personal injury litigation.

Industrial Relations Officer, Personal Cases Unit

Bill joined the IMO in July 2010 and is working as an Industrial Relations Officer in the Personal Cases Unit.Bill studied in Dublin City University where he received an honours degree in Business and Law in 2001 and a Masters Degree in Electronic Commerce and Business in 2002. He worked in the Corporate Legal Advisory Service with KPMG in Dublin for two years before leaving to train as a Solicitor in General Practice and qualifying in 2008. He further completed a postgraduate Diploma in Employment Law with the Law Society of Ireland in 2009 and will be completing a further Diploma in Civil Litigation in 2011.
Bill has a diverse range of interests including Music, Film, Reading, Cycling, Motorsports and Travel.

Industrial Relations Officer - Personal Cases Unit

Carolyn joined the IMO in September 2011 and is an Industrial Relations Officer with the Personal Cases Unit. Carolyn attended the National University of Ireland Galway where she completed the Bachelor of Law Degree in 2007 and received a First Class Masters Degree in Public Law in 2008.

After University Carolyn took a year out to go traveling and returned to take up position in the private sector as an employment law specialist. Carolyn also worked part-time as a law course tutor at the National University of Ireland Galway in 2010.
 

Industrial Relations Officer, Personal Cases Unit

Thomas joined the IMO in August 2011 and is an Industrial Relations Officer in the Personal Cases Unit.

Thomas attended University College Dublin where he completed a degree in Business and Legal Studies in 2005. Thomas subsequently trained and qualified as a solicitor, where he worked primarily in the areas of Litigation and Employment Law.

Thomas has also previously worked in the banking sector.

Administrator, IR Unit

Leah has worked with the IMO since 2009 as Administrator for the Industrial Relations Department. She is responsible for all aspects of administration and support within the Unit. Along with her administrative duities, Leah is responsible for all aspects of the IMO website. She has recently completed a Diploma in Human Resource Management and is now studying for a BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Membership Executive

Audrey O'Neill commenced employment with the IMO Membership Department in July 1997. She has been working as Membership Executive within the Membership department. She is responsible for the daily administration of the IMO membership which is now in excess of 5800 members. Audrey's hobbies include swimming, reading and also interested in interior design.

Membership Secretary

Linda Gibney commenced employment with the IMO in January 2007 as a receptionist. In June 2009 she became membership secretary. She performs the daily administrative duties of the membership unit. Linda holds a diploma from Dublin Business School in affiliation with IATI or Accounting Technicians Ireland as an Accounting Technician. Linda has a keen interest in current affairs and keeping fit.

Senior Policy Executive

Vanessa Hetherington was appointed Senior Policy Executive in April 2008.

She has a degree in European Business Studies, a Masters in International Relations and a Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies.

Prior to joining the IMO, Vanessa worked as principal researcher on a number of academic media research projects.

Director, Communications and Public Affairs

Maria Murphy is Director of Communications and Public Affairs. She is responsible for dealing with queries from the medical and lay press, individuals and groups and the overall running of the Communications Unit. She is also a member of the IMO Management Team.

Ms Murphy has been with the Organisation since 1989.

PA to Director of Communications

Louise joined the IMO’s Communications Unit in 2011. A graduate of NUI, Galway and DCU with an MA in Communications, Louise previously worked with a travel & event management company.

International Affairs Officer

Claire Camilleri joined the IMO in February 2009. Previous to this, she worked in the Publicity Department for Fáilte Ireland and as a Communications Officer for Queensland Transport in Australia.
A graduate of the University of Queensland, Claire holds a dual degree in Journalism and Social Science.

Shane Finlay, Senior Financial Adviser

Shane has over twelve years experience as an adviser specialising in pensions, lending, investments, group schemes and financial planning.

Shane has recently completed the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and studied further to obtain Certified Financial Planner status.

He is the dedicated financial adviser to members in the following areas: Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Carlow, Offaly, Wexford, Kilkenny, Waterford, Tipperary, Clare, Limerick, Cork and Kerry

Audrey O'Connor - Group Scheme Administrator

Audrey has been with the company since 2004.
She works on all aspects of Accounts for IMO Financial Services and administers the five group Schemes with the company.
