Live IssuesThe core function of the IMO is to provide an industrial relations service to our Members. At any given time, in addition to advising and representing Members in a personal capacity, the IMO Secretariat will be representing Doctors on several national, regional or group issues. These issues require that the IMO engages with the HSE and the Department of Health on national or regional issues or with Hospitals on group and local issues. As part of these engagements, the IMO represents Doctors as employees or as professional service providers. In addition to this, the IMO also actively engages with health service employers to shape policy so as to deliver the best outcomes to our Members and their patients. At the moment the IMO is working on the following live issues for our members..
NCHD StrategyIMO NCHD Strategy 2011
NCHD ContractThe new National NCHD contract came into effect on 8th February 2010. This contract is based on the principles of Labour Court Recommendations 19559 and 19702, agreed Principles of Rostering and the IMO HSE High Court Settlement/Collective Agreement lodged with the High Court on Friday 22nd January 2010.

Long Service Hospital DoctorsA Working Group has been established by Council of the IMO to address the issue of establishing a Staff Grade in the HSE. The Working Group comprises an NCHD, Consultant, GP and PHD member and has held one meeting to date to initiate discussion of this topic and to draft an initial report..
