The IMO is the largest medical organisation in Ireland representing Consultants in the medical profession on professional, contractual and health policy issues. From contract negotiations to individual representation, the IMO are here to help you with your query.

Live IssuesThe core function of the IMO is to provide an industrial relations service to our Members. At any given time, in addition to advising and representing Members in a personal capacity, the IMO Secretariat will be representing Doctors on several national, regional or group issues. These issues require that the IMO engages with the HSE and the Department of Health on national or regional issues or with Hospitals on group and local issues. As part of these engagements, the IMO represents Doctors as employees or as professional service providers. In addition to this, the IMO also actively engages with health service employers to shape policy so as to deliver the best outcomes to our Members and their patients. Consultant ContractThe Consultants Common Contract 2008 came into effect in August 2008 and was to be implemented on a phased basis since that time. The payments were to be made in 3 phases over the agreement.
Consultant Salary ScalesSalary Scales for Consultants
Clinical DirectorsThe post of clinical director is appointed by the employer. Applications are invited from all eligible consultants within the clinical directorate and all applicants are interviewed. Alternatively, the body of consultants within the directorate may nominate a candidate. Appointment is initially for two years.
Your CommitteeThe IMO GP Committee provides expert advice and support to the IMO Industrial Relations team and also acts as bridge between the IMO secretariat and the wider IMO membership. For a list of your IMO Committee members please click here..
