IMO will hold a ballot of NCHDs at University Hospital Limerick for industrial action

On Thursday, 1 February 2018, the IMO will hold a ballot of NCHDs at University Hospital Limerick for industrial action, up to and including strike action, regarding the non-payment of unrostered overtime. This is the second time that we have had to do this in the last three years.

University Hospital Limerick have agreed to accept and pay ALL unrostered hours that are worked and submitted with consultant approval by Thursday, 22 February 2018. If this agreement is upheld, no industrial action will be necessary. However, if this commitment is not upheld, we will have a mandate to take industrial action.

It is regrettable that the regime in University Hospital Limerick has forced NCHDs to resort to the threat of industrial action for payment of hours they have worked in service of patient care. However, the legitimate frustration among these doctors has now reached a critical point.

We would encourage all NCHDs to participate and to send a strong and united message to management
