The IMO celebrates World Family Doctors’ Day 2014
Monday 19 May 2014 The IMO has today extended its support in celebrating World Family Doctors’ Day 2014, celebrating the role of the family doctor / general practitioner in health care systems around the world. World Family Doctor Day provides recognition to family doctors and highlights the important issues relating to family doctors and the work they perform in supporting health care for the general public.
“The importance of General Practice in Ireland cannot be understated and GPs do an enormous amount of work in the delivering the most accessible and effective part our health services.” said Dr Ray Walley, Chairman of the IMO GP Committee.
General Practice is the most frequently consulted part of the Irish health services and every year there are an estimated 24 million clinical consultations by GPs in this country which delivers a same day service, 24/7,365 days a year.
