Labour Court Issues Decision on Consultant Practices
The Labour Court issues a decision today regarding Consultant Work Pratices. In summary:
Historic Rest Days (non-binding) - the proposed 50% reduction changed to 25% and the window extended in which the leave may be taken from 2018 to 2020.
Rest Days going Forward (binding) – engage in negotiations with the HSE to introduce compensatory time off after an actual call out. This to bring it into line with other health sector employees. However, rest days for 1:1 and 1:2 rosters to remain unchanged. As these are eventually eliminated the new arrangement negotiated above will come into effect.
Second Opinion Allowance (binding) – to remain depending the outcome of the national review on allowances.
