A panel of speakers will address the issues leading to our medical recruitment and retention crisis, the effects on access to services and patient safety and the solutions that need to be put in place to address the crisis.

2pm - Social Media and Mental Health – A Force for Good or Evil?
This session will examine the effects of social media on mental health, assess the facts, explore the benefits and put forward solutions to mitigate or eliminate the damaging effects.
3pm - Tackling the Stigma and Trends of Sexually Transmitted Disease
STDs are on the rise in Ireland and this session will consider what needs to be done to tackle this and how to deal with the stigma suffered by those living with HIV

4.30pm - Caring for the Marginalised in Society –the Experience from St James’s Hospital
Dr Clíona Ní Cheallaigh is a specialist in inclusion medicine and will speak about the experiences of the programme in St James’s Hospital providing care to the most marginalised in society.
5.30pm - Managing Global Public Health Threats
Dr Cillian De Gascun, Chair of the Expert Group providing advice on the Coronavirus, will discuss how our public health services plan for and respond to Global Health threats and how we communicate and co-operate with WHO and other health systems around the world.
6.30pm - Tackle Your Feelings
This session is sponsored by IMO Financial Services and Zurich. Tackle Your Feelings (TYF) is a mental wellbeing campaign run by Rugby Players Ireland in partnership with Zurich. The seminar features professional rugby players opening up about their own mental wellbeing challenges and the strategies they used to overcome them.

3pm - Toxic Working Environments – Time for Culture Change
In the past decade the toxic working environment and the experience of many doctors has resulted in burnout, emigration and a feeling of not being valued or being able to deliver for patients. This panel session will discuss the issues and the importance of a serious effort to deliver culture change.

In this session our speaker will talk about the challenges facing our screening services and the concerted efforts needed to support these life-saving programmes
