Bridging the Divide – Addressing Inequalities in Health
Thursday 12th April
Doctors throughout Ireland identify the social, economic and environmental factors that affect the health of the patients and communities they serve. People in poorer socio-economic circumstances have relatively high mortality rates, higher levels of ill health and fewer resources to adopt healthier lifestyles. This first Scientific Session examines the relationship between health and wealth, health inequalities in Ireland and their underlying causes as well as the measures needed to bridge the divide.
