Salary Changes due in January 2018
We would like to update members on salary changes that are due in the early part of 2018; these changes arise out of talks and national agreements between public service employers and unions, in which the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) was the sole body representing Doctors.
There are currently two national agreements in place that govern pay restoration as it applies to IMO members:
- Public Service Stability Agreement 2015 – 2018 (‘Lansdowne Road Agreement’) and
- Public Service Stability Agreement 2018 – 2020 (‘Lansdowne Road Agreement 2’).
The first of these is aimed at unwinding the effects of the Haddington Road Agreement of 2013, while the second has as its aim the unwinding of the FEMPI cuts imposed prior to 2013.
Under the terms of the first agreement, for those on salaries of between €65,000 and €110,000, the second half of the 2013 reduction is due to be restored on 1st January 2018, the first half having been restored on 1st April 2017.
Within the same agreement, for those earning salaries of over €110,000, the second third of the 2013 reduction will be restored on 1st April 2018.
Under the second operative agreement, Lansdowne Road Agreement 2, all public service salaries are due to rise by 1% from 1st January 2018.
The IMO would encourage members to contact their local HR or payroll department to ensure that these amendments are reflected in their salary.
